MATi 4 from Metrohm is a configured system for automated water content determination in liquid samples using direct injection coulometric Karl Fischer (KF) titration.
The system is designed to give users uninterrupted analysis and reduced reagent usage and includes automatic reagent top up and exchange. Up to 160 samples are filled in glass vials and can be sealed with lids, ensuring that the water content in hygroscopic samples remains constant. Sample tubes without lids are also offered with a sample rack size of up to 177. The samples are aspirated and transferred into the coulometric cell through a needle.
Tiamo software controls the system, allowing for easy operation, flexibility, and data security. Automatic reagent exchange and removal of excess reagent maintains the longevity of the coulometric KF reagent, enabling the analysis of large sample numbers without any intervention. Samples of various viscosities and densities can be analysed by altering the aspiration and injection speed.
