Autoscribe Informatics has released a white paper examining the role of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in supporting ISO17025 accreditation.
The white paper explores the ways in which a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) can play a key role in achieving, maintaining, and benefiting from ISO17025 accreditation.
ISO/IEC17025:2017 is the international standard for testing and calibration laboratories. A key element of the standard is that it requires laboratories to demonstrate that they operate competently and can generate valid results. The latest version of the standard (2017) encourages a risk-based approach and requires organisations to assess and minimise those risks. Key to this is the management of the laboratory process, the management of laboratory resources and the management of data that exists in, or is created by, the laboratory. LIMS is tightly linked such key areas, and can therefore help to minimise such risks.
The white paper features:
- Managing sample handling and testing processes in the context of ISO17025.
- Resources requirements including personnel, facilities, and equipment.
- Process requirements including logging requests, selection of methods, the sampling process, validation and reporting of results, and managing non-conforming work.
- Relevant section references to find the source information in ISO17025.
As well as a being a source of reference information, the white paper is relevant to laboratory and quality management teams who need to demonstrate competence and compliance with the ISO17025 quality management system. It can be downloaded by CLICKING HERE.
