The CRYOcheck Factor VIII deficient plasma with Von Willebrand Factor (VWF), from Precision Biologic is designed to improve assay performance in labs running the one-stage activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) method to help manage haemophilia A patients.
Because access to congenital FVIII deficient plasma limited and has high donor variability and small pool sizes, the new product provides enhanced convenience and increased confidence in testing results. CRYOcheck Factor VIII deficient plasma with VWF is manufactured from platelet-poor plasma. It is immunodepleted of FVIII before purified VWF is reintroduced to normal levels.
FVIII has been assayed at less than 1% normal antigen and activity levels, with VWF antigen and activity levels at >50%. The plasma is buffered and frozen, with the frozen format eliminating reconstitution errors and a 24-hour stability once thawed if refrigerated at 2°C-8°C in the original capped vial.
