BD presented its latest developments in prefillable syringes, wearable injectors and RFID-enabled pharmaceutical traceability at CPhI 2026 in Milan, highlighting technologies designed to support complex biologic therapies and more efficient manufacturing.
Medical technology specialist BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) showcased a range of drug delivery and pharmaceutical manufacturing innovations at CPhI 2026, held in Milan, Italy, from 6–8 October.
The company's latest developments address increasing demand for devices capable of administering larger volumes of high-viscosity medicines, including biologics and GLP-1 therapies, alongside technologies that improve manufacturing traceability.
Among the new products was the BD Neopak 5.5 mL Glass Prefillable Syringe, developed for high-volume subcutaneous drug delivery. Designed for compatibility with autoinjectors, the syringe offers flexible needle and stopper configurations, with optional individual identification technology to support product traceability.
BD also introduced its UltraSafe Plus 5.5 mL Passive Needle Guard, providing an ergonomic manual injection option for larger-volume therapies where controlled administration may be required.
The company's Libertas Wearable Injector was another highlight. This single-use, ready-to-use device is designed to allow patients to self-administer larger volumes of biologic medicines outside clinical environments.
Manufacturing traceability also featured prominently through demonstrations of BD's iDFill RFID technology. Working with several pharmaceutical equipment partners, BD demonstrated how individual syringe identification can support data integrity, regulatory compliance and tracking throughout filling, packaging and final assembly.
In addition, BD and ZebraSci presented integrated development services designed to help pharmaceutical companies progress combination products from initial concept through to commercialisation.
Other technologies on display included the BD Physioject disposable autoinjector, Vystra disposable pen, Effivax vaccine syringe and Hylok prefillable syringe.
Together, these developments demonstrate BD's focus on combining advanced drug administration technologies with connected manufacturing solutions to support the changing requirements of pharmaceutical producers and patients.
