Mountain States Consulting announced enhanced flexibility in test results entry, report formatting, sort order, text field notes and billing, with its 2002-released MSC-Lims version 2.3
In addition to existing results by sample and results by analyte features, version 2.3 results entry screens are expanded to support multiple sample and multiple analyte results entry.
Users enter results for all analytes for all samples queried using powerful query controls in each screen's corresponding setup screen.
User-friendly pick lists and buttons allow easy navigation through all analytes and samples.
Significant figure rounding is now supported in Report Format fields in the Analysis and QC Data Type setup screens.
The Report Format pick list includes many predefined formats for decimal place and significant figure reporting and rounding, and any user-defined numeric format supported by Visual Basic for Application's (VBA) Format function can be used.
Report formats are only used for final reports and have no effect on how result values are entered, imported, or stored.
Users may now set up logical non-alphabetic analyte sort orders used on all reports and on sample login and results entry screens.
New Text Lists are powerful tools for any lab.
Frequently used text can now be stored in pick lists and inserted in any MSC-Lims text field.
Default lists for conclusions, notes, and titles are automatically selected when the Text Builder is opened within these Lims fields, and users can add their own lists to create and organise text.
Labs that occasionally send analysis to outside labs will appreciate MSC-Lims's 'Cost When Sent Out' field, added to existing in-house default costs in the analysis and customer setup screens.
Version 2.3 also includes a new 'Edit Analysis Costs' option, where system administrators can adjust all default analysis costs or a single customer's analysis costs by simply applying a multiplier.
MSC-Lims provides sample tracking, scheduling, and warning, quality control samples and control charts, method development, instrument and procedure lists and calendars, and employee training and certification records.
MSC-Lims also includes barcoding capabilities, bench sheet, work sheet and chain-of-custody generation, data access security roles, and EPA audit trail.
Minimum system requirements are a Pentium 233MHz processor running Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP, 32MB Ram, and 800x600 small font resolution monitor.
MSC-Lims can be installed on a single PC or in a multi-user configuration for small workgroups.
The base system includes a single user license, barcode printer, laser scanner and one-year technical support and software updates.
