Quantitech has been appointed exclusive distributor for Teledyne Leeman Labs in the UK and will launch the latest Hydra mercury analysers at WWEM 2006
The Hydra range offers cold vapour methods with atomic absorption or atomic fluorescence analysis in compliance with US EPA and European Standard Methods.
Commenting on the appointment, Quantitech's Keith Golding says: "The Leeman Labs instruments are renowned around the world for reliability, high levels of accuracy and flexibility.
"For example, the Hydra AF Gold Plus provides an unparalleled working range (from less than 0.05ppt to 250ppb), together with the ability to pre-screen for high concentration samples.
"These features are vitally important because analysts are often required to test materials with a completely unknown mercury content and as such they need to be able to measure accurately across a broad spectrum of concentrations.
"However, if a high mercury content sample is introduced into an instrument it could be difficult and time-consuming to remove, so the Hydra is equipped with an automatic high concentration protection system.
"If an unknown sample yields an abnormally rapid increase in signal; sample uptake is halted, the liquid and gas lines are flushed to prevent mercury vapour from adsorbing to internal surfaces and the purge process continues until the signal returns to baseline and is stabilised.
"The offending sample is then flagged on the analysis report and analysis continues".
Quantitech offers a free consultation service within which help and advice is provided on the best choice of instrument for a wide variety of mercury testing applications, including the analysis of liquids, semi-solids and solid samples.
