AP Technologies exhibited the latest generation metal reflector array (MRA) super-high power LED arrays from Opto Diode at Photonex06
ODC's MRA technology combines a low thermal resistance substrate with high optical efficiency silver- and gold-plated beam-shaping reflectors for UV/visible and NIR wavelengths respectively.
MRA's excellent thermal characteristics mean the LED die operate at lower junction temperatures - enabling higher efficiency and operating currents for increased power.
The individual reflector cavities efficiently couple this light to produce FWHM beams of 40deg, 70deg or 110deg from a low-profile package approximately 2mm high without the need for additional optics.
Six standard wavelengths are offered from UV to NIR and as MRA technology is designed to use standard high brightness LED die a wide range single- and multi-wavelength designs can be offered.
The latest version of the 615nm red MRA benefits from higher operating current, up to 50mA per die from the previous 30mA.
This increase results in higher output powers for all three standard devices.
Typical applications for MRA products include UV-cure, forensic, biomedical, printing, and visible and IR illumination.
