Thermo Fisher Scientific has secured the 2006 Frost and Sullivan product line strategy award for its 'outstanding' contribution to the European laboratory automation market
The award acknowledges the distinctive expertise of Thermo Fisher Scientific in advanced laboratory automation solutions, its great insight into customer needs, and market-leading ability to meet the ever-changing demands in drug discovery.
With a comprehensive range of solutions aimed at increasing workflow and data management efficiency, Frost and Sullivan distinguishes Thermo Fisher Scientific as a complete solution provider.
Thermo Fisher Scientific provides the biopharmaceutical industry with a range of laboratory automation solutions with the aim of increasing efficiency and saving R+D costs in the drug discovery process, and to illustrate this, some specific products were mentioned.
The complete flexibility of the Thermo Scientific Dimension4 automation platform was commented upon because of its scalability, configurability, reliability and ability to maintain experiments at high throughput - making it a successful automation solution for any laboratory.
The Ultra High Throughput Screening System can analyse close to 180,000 compound tests per day using a fluorescent reader, enabling the ongoing transition to cell-based assays in the drug discovery industry.
The reliability of the Polara software platform increases confidence in the data, thereby removing bottlenecks in the data analysis stage.
Commenting on the award, Christopher McNary, vice president and general manager, laboratory automation, said "We are delighted to receive this award recognising our range of application-based solutions.
"Our in-depth expertise in diverse product areas means we can offer an enviable breadth of key technologies, innovative products and advanced software - all driven by customer requirements.
"Frost and Sullivan has also identified our emphasis on integration which is fundamental to successfully addressing our customers' needs".
As well as providing automation capabilities spanning bench-top solutions to comprehensive platforms, Thermo Fisher Scientific also offers a suite of automated solutions addressing specific applications including cell based assays, protein crystallisation, Adme/Tox studies and others.
McNary continued: "Our goal is to provide our customers with the automation solution that meet their drug discovery and development goals, so that they are generating results quickly."
