Scitec Instruments has introduced a new 4 watt wire wound IR source suitable for use in laboratory or field instrumentation due to its long life and stable properties.
The IR-30 is a coil wound, supported broadband IR source mounted on a TO-5 header.
At steady state the coiled filament operates at ~950C when powered with 4watts (2.5V, 1.6amps).
The IR-30 can be pulsed up to 1Hz with a higher power input.
When operated at 1Hz, 50% duty cycle with 7.1watts (3.5V) the output is a well defined saw tooth with ~34% modulation depth.
Emissivity of the emitter is ~0.75 and it has an expected lifetime of ~25,000hours.
Active area is 1.8x1.8mm.
