Helena Biosciences has launched a new sample handler and sample audit trail and analysis system, delivering a unique and powerful new solution to clinical laboratories across the globe
Helena's new SAS-5 sample handler is a compact, robust new instrument in the SAS electrophoresis range.
It processes up to 180 samples per hour via dedicated sample and dilution needles and supports a full range of sample tube sizes.
Furthermore it will manage sample pre-treatment and pipettes sample volumes into the cassettes that integrate directly into Helena's semi automated SAS-1+ and SAS-3 electrophoresis analysers.
The SAS-5 will prepare samples for standard electrophoresis or IFE on Helena's assay range which is the widest available.
Crucially the SAS-5 also uses barcode readers to identify samples and gels and links via Helena's leading Platinum 3 analysis software to the laboratory or hospital IMS system to deliver TrueIdentity positive patient ID, full historical analysis security and audit trail.
TrueIdentity not only delivers complete security from sample to report for clinicians, technicians and patients, Platinum 3 delivers powerful new analysis tools not available elsewhere.
These include automatic flagging and overlay of samples to compare new against old, giving clinicians an immediate overview of disease or treatment progress in patients and unique new data analysis algorithms that allow difficult protein bands to be better identified.
David Snell, R+D manager at Helena says: "SAS-5 is not only a first rate sample handler, it allows us to offer our TrueIdentity sample ID and security system to customers.
"Sample security is becoming a key issue and the Helena system is the leading solution.
"TrueIdentity is just one of the many unique features and technical standards supported by Helena's SAS range that make it a leading agarose gel electrophoresis solution across the globe."
