Molecular Profiles has been awarded a Queen's award for enterprise in the continuous innovation and development category
The award sees the company and its complete range of services recognised as one of the UK's most innovative during 2007.
The services include nanoscreening technology for predicting the ease of development of a new medicine, a deformulation service for identifying problems with a product down to the nanoscale, and advanced imaging for viewing and optimising the internal structure of products.
The Queen's award for enterprise recognises Molecular Profiles's unique contract research services which encompass the company's knowledge and skills in advanced analytical techniques.
The services can be broadly categorised into three key areas: formulation support (including pre-formulation and product R+D); rapid problem solving (during pre-formulation right through to manufacturing); and patent and litigation support.
Molecular Profiles scientists are continually developing the company's range of novel applications based around advanced surface analysis and nanotechnologies, which provide an insight into the chemical, physical and material properties of pharmaceutical and biomedical products.
These methods and research are translated into novel solutions which are bespoke to the clients' challenges.
"We are extremely honoured to be awarded this prestigious accolade", comments Nikin Patel, CEO, Molecular Profiles.
"Our services and technology are extremely innovative but it is our scientists who develop the rapid response solutions that solve our customers' challenges.
"This award recognises their expertise and commitment in making Molecular Profiles a cutting edge global contract research company".
Professor Martyn Davies, chairman and a founder of Molecular Profiles, comments: "Our company was founded on innovation and I am proud to say that ethos has remained as the company has grown successfully over the last ten years.
"I congratulate the whole team at Molecular Profiles for their amazing efforts, which have been recognised through this award".
A winner's celebration for this year's award winners will be held in London on April 24 followed by a reception in July held by the British monarch at Buckingham Palace.
Molecular Profiles was founded in 1997 as an independent spin-off company from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham.
The Queen's award for enterprise was also awarded to the university's school of pharmacy, for its world leading pharmaceutical research.
