Refac - the Reach facilitation company for Europe's chemical supply chain - has launched its unique product database to help companies form consortia and achieve cost-effective Reach compliance
"Refac's key objective is to minimise the cost of Reach compliance and one of the best way to achieve this is through the formation of consortia which allow several companies to pool test data and share costs," said chairman, Melvyn Whyte.
The new database is available online.
Companies wishing to access, search or add to the product database must first register with Refac.
This registration is free and carries no further obligation to use Refac's services.
"The product database, already contains a broad spectrum of products" said Melvyn Whyte.
"We hope that, over the next few months, it will continue to grow to become a very valuable tool for the industry, and particularly help smaller firms in their quest for cost-effective Reach compliance".
The database contains the following information for products: product name, CAS number, Einecs number, tonnage band (this information is essential for Reach purposes, and other information).
"It's important to add that the database is entirely secure.
"The identity of companies listing their products is protected, only Refac staff will be able to access this information.
"They will only provide it to a third party, as part of the registration process, after being given express permission to do so by the company listing the product(s) involved," said Melvyn Whyte.
