Scientific software combines presentation-quality graphics, the C language, and the NAG numerical library in a single package
Origin 7.0 allows first-time users to produce results right out of the box, while advanced users can continue to exploit the depth of its power.
Easy-to-use point-and-click interfaces are provided for data visualization, exploration, and analysis. Advanced data analysis tools include statistics, signal processing, curve fitting and peak analysis.
New features include: in-place text editing and drawing tools, drag-and-drop Thermo Galactic SPC importing, nonlinear fitting wizard with automatic initialisation, expanded statistics including categorical data support, and C compiler with essential elements of the NAG library included.
New in-place text editing allows you to click anywhere on graphs and worksheets and directly type your annotations.
Single-click to access sizing and rotation handles, double-click to edit text.
A common format can be applied to selected multiple objects by using toolbar buttons.
New drawing objects have been added for freehand drawing and for drawing polylines and polygons.
Each of these objects offers four edit states: select/move/resize, rotate, skew, and point-by-point edit.
The Thermo Galactic SPC is a standard file format, used especially with spectral and chromatographic instrumentation such as from Agilent, Bio-Rad, Hitachi, ISA and Perkin-Elmer.
With Origin 7.0, you can either drag-and-drop SPC files onto the origin workspace to create a worksheet or onto an existing graph to create a data plot.
Origin 7.0 supports the import of Minitab 13 MTW and MPJ data files, including MPJ files with multiple worksheets.
Furthermore, Origin also supports the import of SigmaPlot SP5, SPG, SPW, and JNB data files.
The new nonlinear least squares fitting wizard makes nonlinear curve fitting fast and easy.
The wizard guides you through the fitting process, including data and model selection.
Since the wizard automatically initialises the fitting parameters, the procedure is simple.
Upon completion, you can save the fitting procedure as a toolbar button for single-click repeat analyses.
Origin 7.0 provides several new statistical analysis routines.
General support for discrete data (categorical data) has also been added. They can be used as grouping factors in analysis, or as colours in plotting scatter symbols.
Origin 7.0 includes a C compiler that supports ANSI C plus some C++ features, including support for string, complex, vector and matrix data types, as well as internal Origin objects like worksheets and columns.
A significant subset of the NAG library is also included with every copy of Origin, to turn Origin 7.0 into a serious computational platform for scientists and engineers.
