In-Situ's new Aqua Troll 200 from is a multi-parameter water quality sensor designed for long periods of unattended monitoring
According to the new UK distributors, Camlab of Cambridge, the Aqua Troll 200 is also ideal for use in harsh environments for applications such as borehole monitoring or detecting salt water contamination in aquifers and waste water systems.
Camlab's head of business for Water and Environmental, David Miller, said: "This is a superbly engineered, incredibly compact package that offers multi-parameter water monitoring for about one third of the cost of a conventional system".
The Aqua Troll 200 accurately measures pressure, temperature and conductivity and derived parameters (level, total dissolved solids, salinity) and can output results to a variety of data retrieval options - telemetry, laptop or PDA.
Active components and the lithium battery pack are permanently welded inside a slim (18.7mm diameter) corrosion resistant, titanium sensor body that will pass freely down a 25mm bore pipe.
The lithium battery has a guaranteed life of 5 years or 200,000 sensor readings after which, for a nominal charge, the sensor head can be refurbished and re-sealed with a new battery.
Titanium is also used for the novel 'balanced' 4-electrode conductivity cell whose design gives freedom from external interferences and automatically compensates for electrode fouling.
When the Aqua Troll 200 is used for depth measurement, a permanent vent to the surface incorporated in the cabling provides automatic compensation for changes in barometric pressure.
For added confidence in the results, Aqua Troll 200 is calibrated and validated against NIST traceable standards.
There is 4MB of internal memory available for storing data between downloads, which take only a few seconds.
Re-programming for new applications can be completed in minutes using the Wizard based routines in the simple, intuitive Win-Situ software, included in the price of the Aqua Troll 200.
Free software updates are available on line.
