Clinical diagnostics supplier Helena Biosciences is targeting thrombosis labs with the launch of its latest assay, a chromogenic protein C assay
The assay is compatible with most analysers, including Helena Biosciences's AC-4 automated coagulation analyser, which allows quick and easy clot detection and measurement.
The assay gives excellent performance at a fraction of the cost of other chromogenic kits - it is more stable, accurate and reliable than the clotting-based approach to measuring protein C deficiency.
Helena supplies a full range of haemostasis reagents including a leading PCA kit for determining activated protein C resistance.
Each chromogenic protein C kit is sufficient for 250 tests and contains six 2.0ml protein C substrates, six 2.0ml protein C activators and three 5.0ml protein C diluents.
Jane Lee-Prudhoe from Helena Biosciences said: "Helena's chromogenic protein C assay kit is a high-performance, ultra-reliable assay that sits shoulder-to-shoulder with the more expensive kits on the market".
The protein C kit is positioned alongside Helena's existing range of chromogenic assays, including Chrom Z-Factor VIII, Chrom Z-Heparin, Chrom Z-PLG and Chrom Z-AT-III.
Helena also supplies a wide range of haemostasis instruments and assays, covering coagulation, platelet aggregation and INR testing.
