Borealis and Symyx will work together to bring Symyx scientific software and R+D workflows into Borealis laboratory facilities around the world.
Borealis has selected Symyx software and tools as part of a strategic plan to maximise its return on research and development investments.
Symyx software will become standard within Borealis R+D for design, execution and analysis of experimentation and laboratory operations, data and instrument management.
The agreement involves all of Borealis InnoTech (Borealis's multi-site R+D organisation) and a range of Symyx software, tools and services.
"By deploying Symyx Software and Tools, we will enhance our ability to deliver innovative, high quality polyolefin plastics in a more timely and cost-effective manner," said Borealis vice president for innovation and technology Wim Roels.
"This advancement supports our goal of accelerating the time-to-market of new products while strengthening our leadership position in the infrastructure, automotive and advanced packaging markets".
"We look forward to a productive and rewarding relationship with Symyx." Isy Goldwasser, CEO of Symyx Technologies, commented.
"We are very pleased that Borealis has selected Symyx Software and Tools to maximize return on its new R+D investments.
"Borealis's strong commitment to innovation will be supported by our proven technology, and we look forward to working with them long-term as business partners."
