Bio-Plex is a flexible and easy-to-use multiplex analysis system that allows simultaneous analysis of up to 100 different biomolecules (protein, peptide, or nucleic acid) in a single microplate well
Bio-Rad Laboratories announces the availability of product brochure (bulletin 5613), which describes the latest BioPlex Manager 5.0 software.
By multiplexing with the Bio-Plex suspension array system, researchers can dramatically increase the amount of useful information they can obtain from rare or volume-limited samples such as mouse or rat serum.
In addition, they can decipher complex interrelationships among proteins involved in signal transduction pathways.
The microplate platform allows the automated analysis of 96-well plates with a throughput of more than 1800 assay points - for a 23-plex assay - in 30 minutes.
The Bio-Plex suspension array is built around three core technologies.
The first is the family of fluorescently dyed microspheres (beads) from Luminex.
The second is a flow cytometer with two lasers and associated optics to measure biochemical reactions that occur on the surface of the microspheres, and the third is a high-speed digital signal processor to efficiently manage the fluorescent output.
These technologies are brought together in the Bio-Plex workstation.
The Bio-Plex suspension array system integrates assay kits, software, calibration and validation tools, and instrumentation into a complete system, which is complemented by customer support.
Bio-Plex Manager 5.0 software offers new features that extend the power and analysis capabilities of the Bio-Plex suspension array system.
New features enable:.
1 - A new graphing capability to quickly compare sample data and results between samples and across analytes, allowing users to better understand the data using a customizable graph.
2 - An automated maintenance feature that allows researchers to set up and automatically run (unattended) "pre" or "post" run custom maintenance and shut-down operations.
This feature permits users to use their time more productively as the system can be programmed to run all maintenance protocols using the Bio-Plex system reservoir.
3 - Data normalisation that uses internal controls such as housekeeping genes or external/exogenous controls, which allow users to establish a comparison parameter and increase their confidence in their results .
4 - A new multiple analyte table layout for viewing sample data across analytes within a single view.
This feature allows users to scroll through the entire results data set and hide columns as needed, providing an excellent way to visually compare results.
Bio-Plex Manager software can be used with any xMap technology assay from Bio-Rad or any other provider.
Bio-Plex Manager software supports Luminex 100 and 200 series instruments and all xMap technology bead types, including magnetic beads.
Several upgrade kits are also available to users of previous versions of Bio-Plex Manager software (3.0, 4.0, and 4.1) and to users of software from other vendors.
