Integromics will use Tibco Spotfire's suite of products to create the province of Andalusia's genomics platform, an open environment that integrates complex information and applications
Spotfire is joining forces for the development of a genomics platform for the region of Andalusia in Spain.
Integromics, a provider of state-of-the-art software solutions for data management and data analysis in genomics, proteomics and drug discovery, has been selected to create the platform, which is funded by the governments of Spain and Andalusia, in efforts to build support for life science practices throughout southern Spain.
The University of Malaga and the University of Cordoba will be responsible for the coordination of the platform.
Researchers and scientists located at universities, hospitals, and laboratories will have a direct, interactive, visual approach to data analysis that rapidly reveals insights and unexpected relationships.
This helps to accelerate breakthroughs in potential disease treatments through collaboration and data sharing with participating groups throughout southern Spain, resulting in faster decision-making processes throughout their organizations.
"We are excited to be implementing the Tibco Spotfire solution as a central resource for our life sciences labs in Andalusia.
"This technology will play a key role in integrating heterogeneous sources of information and creating easy-to-follow analytic guides for genomics and transcriptomics," said Guillermo Perez, spokesman and coordinator of IT systems of Plataforma Bioinformatica de Andalusia.
"Working with leading companies like Tibco Spotfire and Integromics to create a visual, interactive analytic application platform allows us to take a great step forward in providing end-users with the capability of running powerful analysis on their own".
"Spotfire has become the de facto standard enterprise analytics platform in the life sciences industry," said Pedro de Alarcon, business development and marketing manager for Integromics.
"Integromics partnered with Spotfire to extend our services portfolio with a visual, interactive analytic application platform that easily integrates multiple data sources, and transforms data into an interactive decision-making asset.
"With this functionality, life science researchers can ask and answer new questions and create an advanced problem solving environment".
Unlike current first generation BI systems, the Tibco Spotfire Enterprise Analytics platform is said to be dramatically more adaptable to multiple industries and business processes.
The Spotfire platform enables Integromics's pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic research groups to quickly find and categorise complex patterns.
With interactive analysis and high-impact visualisation capabilities, users can examine the expression and annotation dimensions of their data and perform a variety of numerical analyses.
Users can also collaborate across and outside their enterprises, providing interactive presentations of complex information.
"Creating knowledge from mass data is one of the most challenging issues facing research groups in the life sciences industry," said Christian Marcazzo, senior director of life science analytics for Spotfire.
"We're excited to be a part of a project that will provide researchers with a powerful environment to accelerate discovery by providing accurate, up-to-date analytics from a single reliable source."
