The Oxford Bioinformatics Programme at the University of Oxford provides part-time modular study in bioinformatics and systems biology and is aimed at those in full-time employment
To gain an insight into the part-time student experience at the University of Oxford visit its website on Friday 25 April 2008 to take part in the online open day.
Oxford Bioinformatics Programme courses are aimed at full-time employees working internationally within pharmaceutical, biotechnological and computational fields.
Students can enrol on flexible part-time programmes leading to University of Oxford awards (the postgraduate certificate, postgraduate diploma and master's programmes) or take individual modules for their specific professional development.
Modules are taught either as one-week intensive courses in Oxford or as six-week online courses and include: Perl programming for bioinformatics, Microarray bioinformatics, Statistical data mining, Molecular evolution, Population genetics and Systems biology.
Online discussion forums will take place with the academic director, Andrew Dalby, the course administrative team and current and past students.
Sessions take place between 12 noon and 2pm, and between 5pm and 7pm (9am - 11am Pacific Daylight Saving Time / 12 noon - 2pm Eastern Daylight Saving Time).
All participants will be entered in to a prize draw to win a £100 discount on a module.
There are five prizes available.
Additionally, course content, application packs and other student resources will be available to download throughout the day.
