RTS Life Science has scooped a prestigious industry award for its revolutionary Automated Blood Fractionation (ABF) 500 system
The UK Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) presented the IET North West Innovation in Engineering Award to RTS in recognition of its groundbreaking advancement in engineering, science and technology.
With no comparable system on the market, the ABF 500, developed utilising technology implemented at the UK Biobank, is aimed at research facilities of all sizes.
Providing a fully automated solution to what has previously been a laborious manual process, the ABF 500 is used to extract white blood cells from whole blood samples and provides the biobanking world with significant benefits including: time and labour savings, reduced DNA extraction costs, increased reproducibility, automated sample tracking and auditing.
IET selected RTS to receive the award over 25 other entries, acknowledging the company's continual commitment in successful development and delivery of new product innovation.
Gary Walsh, managing director of RTS Life Science, comments: "We are delighted to receive this award from the IET.
"RTS Life Science is committed to research and development of innovative automation solutions and providing customer satisfaction.
"We are very proud that this has been recognised by industry experts."
