Malvern Instruments is to present analytical strategies linking the chemical and physical properties of materials at the Eastern Analytical Symposium and Exposition 2008.
EAS is set to take place on 17-20 November 2008 in Somerset, NJ, US.
Malvern Instruments will focus on quality by design in the pharmaceutical industry facilitated by near-infrared chemical imaging (NR-CI).
Dr E Neil Lewis, technical director at Malvern Instruments, will present a paper from the company's NI-CI specialists on 'Novel Analytical Strategies to Characterise Physical and Chemical Characteristics Simultaneously.' Dr Linda Kidder, senior scientist, chemical imaging systems and spectroscopy at Malvern Instruments, will chair the session sponsored by the Coblentz Society.
The complex interaction of the physical and chemical characteristics of excipients and active pharmaceutical ingredients strongly influences the quality of pharmaceutical products.
These interactions can both identify and characterise parameters which are critical to quality and fundamental to the implementation of effective quality by design.
Synirgi NIR-CI systems from Malvern Instruments utilise a non-destructive technique that combines traditional near infrared spectroscopy with microscopic and macroscopic imaging.
Coupled with Malvern's Isys data analysis software, NIR-CI facilitates quantitative and spatial identification of chemical species in a sample.
