Olympus UK has announced that Olympus Diagnostics has been awarded a seven-year managed service contract (MSC) by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust.
The MSC includes Olympus immunoassay, clinical chemistry and automation products in addition to process improvement analysis consultation and the refurbishment of laboratory facilities.
The contract also includes the AU3000I immunoassay system.
Olympus said the MSC procurement will increase the trust's pathology test capacity and maintain turnaround times through improved sample handling.
The complete implementation of equipment and laboratory refurbishment is being phased over a six-month period across the three hospital sites.
The immunoassay phase is already complete and all three sites are now running 'live' on the AU3000I.
Other Olympus systems to be installed at the trust as part of the MSC include: AU5420, AU2700 and AU680 clinical chemistry analysers; OLA automatic sample handling workstations; PAW peri-analytical workstations and Olympus Data Wizard data management systems.
