The Pittsburgh Conference has announced four special symposia that will be part of the technical programme for Pittcon 2009.
Two of the symposia will be presented by the Society for Applied Spectroscopy (SAS) and two by The Japan Society for Analytical Chemistry and Japan Analytical Instruments Manufacturers' Association (JAIMA).
The first presentation from SAS, 'Developments in Atomic Spectroscopy - All in the Family or Sibling Rivalry?', will address current topics in the field of atomic spectroscopy.
Speakers will include: James Holcombe, University of Texas at Austin; David Hahn, University of Florida; Joseph Caruso, University of Cincinnati; Gary Hieftje, Indiana University; and John Olesik, Ohio State University.
The second topic from SAS, 'Developments in Vibrational Spectroscopy: Where Do We Go From Here?', will discuss techniques of near- and mid-infrared and Raman spectroscopy.
Speakers will include: Katherine Bakeev (NIR), Glaxosmithkline, Richard McCreery (Raman), University of Alberta; Peter Griffiths (FTIR), University of Idaho; Michael Claybourn (THz), Astrazeneca; and Rohit Bhargava (Imaging), University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
The 'Analytical Instruments with Nano-Technology (JAIMA)' symposium will present state-of-the-art analytical instruments for research and development of nanotechnology.
The symposium provides an opportunity for networking between Pittcon attendees and leading Japanese scientists.
The 'Analytical Instruments for Nano-Technology (JAIMA)' symposium will introduce the application of the research of nanotechnology using state-of-the-art analytical instruments in electron microscopy and spectroscopy.
