Bruker AXS Microanalysis has introduced the M1 Mistral, a table-top microanalysis X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometer developed for non-destructive analysis of gold and other precious metals.
The system quickly and accurately determines the elemental composition of metals and alloys used for producing jewellery.
The M1 Mistral removes the need for sample preparation.
It can be used to analyse yellow gold, white gold, platinum alloys and silver alloys, as well as other precious metals, jewellery and coins.
The M1 Mistral complements fire assays commonly used in the industry.
The large sample stage allows the examination of irregularly shaped objects of up to 10 x 10 x 10cm and its integrated video microscope allows the exact positioning of large and intricately shaped jewellery.
Measurement results can be displayed as elemental or gold alloy concentrations, in karats to display the purity of gold alloys, or even as the monetary value of the sample analysed.
The M1 Mistral is easy to maintain, does not require any consumables and has low power consumption.
