AstraZeneca Netherlands is using the Tibco Spotfire enterprise analytics platform to meet the business intelligence (BI) needs of its sales and marketing professionals.
The Spotfire system delivers real-time performance reporting and analysis to help the company's entire sales and marketing team improve its efficiency and effectiveness.
Etienne Jap, director of business report and market resources, said: 'We started using Spotfire as a temporary tool to help us manage data in a new SQL data warehouse we had set up to help support sales and marketing analysis.
'Our previous reporting system had relied upon Businessobjects, but this was not adequate to meet the needs of our expanding sales and marketing teams, as it was slow and we could only get reports on a weekly or monthly basis.' 'We found the Tibco Spotfire software so effective that we recommended to our executive team that we expand the use of Spotfire across our entire sales and marketing teams,' he added.
AstraZeneca started using Spotfire in May 2007 and went for a full rollout shortly after.
Jurgen Antonis, manager of sales force effectiveness, said: 'Spotfire allows our sales reps to upload information on their sales performance daily and to measure their progress against agreed targets and objectives.
'It also allows our executive team to see how our sales teams are performing and if any adjustments need to be made to help us meet our targets and growth criteria.' Reports are now delivered on a daily and hourly basis and AstraZeneca employees can interrogate the data in different reports and visualisations to see specific performance information relating to different parts of the company.
Currently, around 50 senior managers are using the full Spotfire Enterprise Player and another 200 AstraZeneca employees, mainly sales reps, will start using Spotfire with the Tibco Spotfire Web Player for remote access shortly.
Antonis said: 'We can run reports off Spotfire based on KPI calculations, both for individual employees, managers and departments.'
