Spotfire is joining forces for the development of a genomics platform for the region of Andalusia in southern Spain.
Integromics, a provider of software for data management and analysis in genomics, proteomics and drug discovery, has been selected to create the platform, which is funded by the governments of Spain and Andalusia, in efforts to build support for life science practices throughout southern Spain.
The University of Malaga and the University of Cordoba will be responsible for the coordination of the platform.
Integromics will use Tibco Spotfire's suite of products to create the region's genomics platform, an open environment that integrates complex information and applications.
Researchers and scientists located at universities, hospitals, and laboratories will have a direct, interactive, visual approach to data analysis that rapidly reveals insights and unexpected relationships.
This helps to accelerate breakthroughs in potential disease treatments through collaboration and data sharing with participating groups throughout southern Spain, resulting in faster decision-making processes throughout their organisations.
'This technology will play a key role in integrating heterogeneous sources of information and creating easy-to-follow analytic guides for genomics and transcriptomics,' said Dr Guillermo Perez, spokesman and coordinator of IT systems of Plataforma Bioinformatica de Andalucia.
Compared with current BI systems, the Tibco Spotfire enterprise analytics platform is more adaptable to multiple industries and business processes.
The Spotfire platform allows Integromics' pharmaceutical, biotechnology and academic research groups to quickly find and categorise complex patterns.
With interactive analysis and high-impact visualisation capabilities, users can examine the expression and annotation dimensions of their data and perform a variety of numerical analyses.
Users can also collaborate across and outside their enterprises, providing interactive presentations of complex information.
