The flexibility of this range of protein concentrators means they can be used in swing bucket or fixed angle rotor of a centrifuge, accepting standard conical bottom tubes
Vivaspin centrifugal columns from Vivascience Sartorius have become synonymous with innovative design and rapid ultrafilter protein concentration, says the company.
The Vivaspin 15R is the latest member of the Vivaspin product family with all the unique features of Vivascience concentrators.
The longitudinal membranes and thin channel concentration chamber of the Vivaspin 15R provide optimum cross flow conditions, even for particle laden solutions; the centrifugal force pulling particles and solids away from the membrane to the bottom of the device. Macromolecules collect in an impermeable concentrate pocket integrally moulded below the membrane surface, there by eliminating the risk of filtration to dryness.
The Vivaspin 15R is ideal for volumes from 2-15ml with a modified regenerated cellulose membrane, Hydrosart.
This membrane is ideal where extremely high recovery with very low adsorption is needed, in applications such as desalting and concentration of Ig fractions. Membrane pore sizes available include 5000 mwco, 10,000 mwco and 30,000 mwco.
The flexibility of this protein concentrator means they can be used in swing bucket or fixed angle rotor of a centrifuge, accepting standard conical bottom tubes.
In a single spin, solutions can be concentrated in excess of 100x.
Samples are typically concentrated in 10 to 30 minutes with macromolecular recoveries in excess of 95%.
An additional benefit of the Vivaspin 15R is that if scale-up is necessary, the Vivaflow bench top cross flow system contains the same Hydrosart membrane and can ultrafilter up to five litres.
