Every three years, the city of Frankfurt hosts an international meeting for the process industries, which this year takes place from 11 to 15 May.
Alongside the Achema exhibition, a congress programme of 925 lectures will focus on state-of-the-art developments, while panel discussions with notable speakers will address topics of public interest.
Paul Carter, delegate for Dechema for UK and Ireland, said: 'There are 20 different exhibition groups.
'A total of 4,000 exhibitors have booked space to show their products to an estimated 180,000 visitors from 100 countries.' Despite the current global economic downturn, interest in Achema remains as strong as ever.
This, according to Dr Thomas Scheuring, head of exhibition congresses at Dechema, is because Achema is the one event for process industries that gives exhibitors worldwide visibility and exposure.
'It is the number one showcase for new technologies and products in our field, a communication hub and the starting point for generating new business contacts,' he added.
