Leipziger Messe and GIT Verlag have announced the inception of the LAB Award 2009 in support of the young academics community.
The award will provide successful and upcoming researchers with the opportunity to portray their work at a scientific conference as well as within a well-reputed journal.
The top three authors will be invited to give a 30min talk at the LAB 2009 conference and trade fair in Birmingham on 27-29 October.
Furthermore, articles of the awarded contributions will be published in either GIT Laboratory Journal Europe or Bioforum Europe of GIT Verlag.
The 10 runners-up are welcome to present their projects within a special poster session at the LAB 2009.
All PhD students who have already completed their first year of graduation in chemical, pharmaceutical, physical, or life science research are qualified to enter the competition.
Submitted entries - extended abstracts - should not exceed 4,000 characters (including blanks) and four illustrations or tables.
A jury, consisting of well-reputed scientists and members of the editorial team from GIT Verlag will select the winners by evaluating scientific information value, innovation, actuality, and originality.
As a motivation for participants, the first prize will additionally be honoured with a weekend trip either to London or Berlin.
Deadline for contribution submission is 15 August 2009.
