Malvern Instruments will exhibit Viscotek's TDAmax gel permeation chromatography/size exclusion chromatography (GPC/SEC) system at the American Chemical Society's spring 2009 exposition.
The American Chemical Society's meeting, the theme of which will be 'Nanoscience: Challenges for the Future', will be held from 22-26 March in Salt Lake City, Utah.
GPC/SEC is a chromatographic technique that employs specialised columns to separate natural and synthetic polymers, biopolymers and nanoparticles by size.
Coupling GPC/SEC with advanced detectors allows a range of additional parameters to be determined, including intrinsic viscosity, molecular size and long chain branching.
The TDAmax is a comprehensive GPC/SEC system with an integrated triple or tetra detector array.
A photodiode array (PDA) detector for the system provides a powerful and flexible tool for rapidly analysing polymers and biological macromolecules.
Its applications include identifying protein conjugates and complexes, aggregation and stability and determining concentration ratios.
By capturing absorption spectra across the UV-vis wavelength range, the new PDA detector provides a fingerprint of each 'time slice' of the sample as it elutes from the column.
Measurement takes just 30 to 40 minutes.
