Technopath has announced the release of a semi-automated version of the Biolog identification system for laboratories that do not have a large throughput of identifications.
With no gram stain, no pre-tests and no follow-on tests, microbial identification is simple.
There is only one test panel for all aerobic bacteria, which makes stock control simpler.
With more than 1,000 species covered in the database, the Biolog system is suitable for a range of laboratories.
Biolog also offers the opportunity to build a custom database from the user's own isolates and retrospectively analyse all data and compare the history of identifications.
The identification panel itself takes one minute to set-up and with additional bolt-on databases it is possible to also identify anaerobes, yeast and moulds.
Existing Biolog customers can upgrade their systems without purchasing new equipment.
