ALcontrol Laboratories has been granted UKAS accreditation for salmonella and Listeria methods using Vidas technology.
The Vidas procedure has been approved by MandS to offer an alternative to the slower, cultural methods.
The company claims that Vidas will provide a negative result at least 24 hours earlier than the cultural methods specified by MandS.
Vidas is a multi-parameter automated immunoanalyser.
It comprises an analytical module, a computer and a printer.
The analytical module automatically performs all stages of the analysis, including printing out the full results.
After two days, the Vidas system will screen out negatives, and give an indication as to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes and other Listeria spp (subject to confirmation).
