FIZ Karlsruhe is offering its computer science portal io-port.net free of charge, with a new database interface and numerous new search functions.
FIZ Karlsruhe produces the database with Gesellschaft fur Informatik (GI) e.V., University of Trier, Springer-Verlag and IEEE Computer Society.
Io-port.net is a database with more than one-million computer science publications.
Documents from different sources are offered in a standardised format through one common search interface (duplicates have been removed).
These include: Compuscience, produced by FIZ Karlsruhe; DBLP (Digital Bibliography and Library Project), offered by the University of Trier; LNI (Lecture Notes in Informatics) and other publications by Gesellschaft fur Informatik (GI) e.V.; IEEE Computer Society Digital Library; LNCS (Lecture Notes in Computer Science) by Springer-Verlag; and publications from other publishers (for example Elsevier, Wiley-VCH Verlag and Co KgaA, Blackwell Verlag, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, IOS Verlag, World Scientific Publishing and Taylor and Francis).
The database covers the historical development of computer science from 1931 to the present.
It contains bibliographical meta data, links to electronic full-texts and, for most of the references, article summaries or abstracts written by scientists.
A specific search language is available for complex database searches.
The data is thoroughly edited so that open URL functions can be integrated.
