Based on the infinity-corrected Priorlux microscope, the PAM series can be configured to include the Optiscan motorised XY scanning stage and Z focus mechanism, plus a digital camera and imaging software.
The microscopes offer optional phase contrast and bright field/dark field illumination.
An alternative metallurgical microscope is also an option.
The Optiscan stage provides fast, smooth micropositioning without vibration, and is ideally suited to routine applications.
The compact controller is USB-compatible, while retaining the standard RS-232 communications facility.
At the click of a mouse, the user can perform image tiling experiments, where images are seamlessly stitched together - ideal for creating virtual slides.
For some specimens, limited depth of field is a problem.
The extended focus facility grabs several images at different focal planes and combines only the in-focus data from each.
Additionally, the software features image archiving and annotation, a variety of measurement tools and image analysis functions.
All these functions are available as a fully integrated PAM system, or as individual components to upgrade existing microscope installations.
