Digital Healthcare has recently implemented the latest version of its Optomize software platform for diabetic retinal screening for Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.
The system is based at the Trust's Bryan House location in Wigan and links workstations across three hospital sites to support the delivery of the screening service for up to 25,000 diabetic patients in the region.
Optomize meets the full functional requirements of the ENSPDR workbook 4.
It provides patients with an efficient and supportive service and allows programmes to manage and develop their service in a pro-active manner.
The implementation of the system, which included a data migration of existing patient data from the Trust's legacy management system, was managed by a project team working to Prince2 project management principles.
The project management team included representatives from all areas of the Trust and the screening service including the clinical consultant, the screening programme manager, the IT lead, and representatives from photography, screening/grading and administration, together with representatives from Digital Healthcare.
The Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust diabetic retinal screening service went live on 1 June using Optomize, less than three weeks following installation.
