Invitrogen has announced the opening of an online resource for cell-biology information and technology.
The Invitrogen Cell Resource Center is a web portal that brings together educational resources and the latest technologies for advancing cellular research.
It was designed through customer input, from more than 700 life scientists from around the world.
It provides information highlighting the breadth of what can be accomplished in the laboratory with any given cell type, with information organised across technologies that support the cellular workflow.
Researchers can also access information about various cell types, through links to useful technical information, third-party video protocols, published research, assays and reagents, as well as systems and devices for building workflows for their experiments.
The Cell Resource Center features a broad range of highly characterised primary cells, stem cells (including embryonic stem cells), induced pluripotent stem cells and reprogramming technologies, along with more than 200 validated assays for basic research, drug discovery and screening.
As part of the roll out of this industry resource, Invitrogen has also brought out a line of Gibco rat neural cell products, including neural stem cells, neurons and glial cells.
These cells have been validated with media and reagents that include Neurobasal medium, B27 supplement and Stempro NSC SFM.
Also available for the first time are cell-engineering tools to allow targeted, stable integration of genetic material into the genome of pluripotent stem cells and primary cells for screening and discovery analysis.
