Chittenden Solid Waste District (CSWD) has awarded its 2009 Waste Reduction Award to Biotek Instruments and its Green Team.
This annual award was presented to Biotek for its efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle, including: reuse of shipping materials when shipping parts to vendors and repaired units to customers; buying nearly 100 per cent post-consumer recycled content paper for office paper supplies; and reducing waste through a composting programme for paper goods and food scraps.
Biotek's environmental programmes have resulted in a 40 per cent reduction in non-recycled waste and a 50 per cent increase in recycled materials, based on weekly data.
