Astranet Systems has launched Astragene: a micro-volume spectrophotometer that uses a patented system to measure samples as small as two micro litres.
The company claims that the sample is protected from contamination and is ready for further processing or analysis immediately after measurement.
Mike Mills, managing director, said that, in this design, samples do not have to be dispensed onto a platform or pedestal so there is no risk of carry-over or contamination.
He added that cleaning between each sample is eliminated because there are no caps or covers.
