An NMR-based technique uses the difference in fluid molecule relaxation time between molecules close to the particle surface and those in the free liquid to determine particle surface area.
As well as particles in suspension, the NMR-based technique is suitable for emulsions, nanoparticles and colloids.
No sample preparation is necessary and results are ready in less than five minutes, rather than several hours with conventional gas adsorption.
Based on this technology, the Acorn Area is now available in the UK from Meritics, adding to the company's existing rage of particulate characterisation products.
