Melbourn Scientific is to host an interactive workshop at ERBI Bench2Boardroom that will discuss the benefits of early stage pre-formulation studies.
David Ward, senior formulator, and Derek Solomon, laboratory manager at Melbourn Scientific, will provide an overview of the formulation development process.
This will include a discussion of how accelerated feasibility studies can reduce risk by discovering as much as possible about the compound/product as early as possible.
Ward said: 'Running a series of pre-formulation, analytical and formulation studies in parallel offers an effective way of managing time-critical projects.
'A matrix of tests will ensure that the key properties of the compound are defined early on and that will have a crucial role in the effective delivery of the final drug.
'Done well, this process can add value to the project by helping to inform design decisions and avoid expensive mistakes later in the process.'
