Elga Process Water has developed Biopure, a range of HTM2030-compliant water-purification units designed to help healthcare specialists ensure they meet water-quality standards.
The Biopure 7/15 models are designed for small primary-care clinics and dental practices.
They can deliver up to 15l/h of purified water, which is enough to supply small clinics and dental practices with all of their purified-water needs.
The Biopure 60 and 120 models deliver up to 120l/h of purified water, which is enough for most single-washer disinfector and endoscope re-processor installations.
They can be tucked away under a workbench, saving valuable floor space.
For larger systems and sterile-services units, the floor-standing Biopure 200, 300 and 600 models can deliver up to 600l/h, which is sufficient for a suite of multiple washers fed via a ring main.
Inside each Biopure system is an efficient reverse-osmosis membrane that removes a range of organic and inorganic contaminants and an integral treated-water reservoir with a bacterial vent filter to maintain microbiological integrity.
A pump delivers treated water via a UV disinfection lamp for continuous bacterial destruction and a final molecular ultrafilter to ensure removal of endotoxins, bacteria and particulate contamination.
Southampton City Primary Care Trust is typical of many Biopure users.
When the trust took ownership of the Royal South Hants Hospital, the endoscopy suite was relocated into a new facility on the Southampton General Hospital site.
Part of the refurbishment and building work included three automated endoscope re-processors (AERs).
To supply the units with water, the Southampton University Hospitals Trust purchased three Biopure 200 units.
Charge nurse Charlie Cowan, who is responsible for the AER unit, said 'We're currently operational twelve hours a day so we sanitise one unit each night.
'All we have to do is add the disinfectant, press the button and go home.' The Biopure 200s are supported by a national network of field-service engineers trained and focused on delivering optimum support for critical healthcare applications.
Customers can purchase Biopure outright or take advantage of Elga Process Water's 'All-in-Pack' rental agreement.
Under this arrangement a fixed quarterly rental payment provides the treatment plant and planned maintenance and consumables replacement, carried out by an Elga Process Water technician.
