ACS Environmental Testing has had its existing water systems upgraded by Elga Process Water, resulting in a 25 per cent reduction in mains water use.
ACS Environmental Testing is a UKAS-accredited laboratory that specialises in water, wastewater, leachate and soil testing.
The company relies on instruments and techniques such as HPLC, mass spectrometry and ion chromatography, which in turn rely on ultrapure water.
Each of the ACS laboratories - sample preparation, standards preparation and chemistry - was equipped with a Purelab Option Q7, which is capable of supplying seven litres per hour of 18.2MW.cm Type One laboratory grade water.
The company's growth meant that it was running short of ultrapure water, and so it consulted with Elga Process Water to increase its capacity.
Rather than replacing the Purelab Option 7s, the company upgraded the units to deliver 15 litres per hour of water, meeting ACS's future needs.
The Elga service engineer also suggested that ACS could reduce its mains water consumption by reusing wastewater and helped the company design and install the necessary piping modifications.
