Genevac has launched the third-generation version of its EZ-2 personal solvent evaporator designed for productive, sample-safe solvent removal.
The EZ-2 is compact and compatible with all commonly used solvents and acids.
Up to 10 stored methods can be input by users, enabling them to benefit from Genevac's experience in developing optimised protocols for applications including environmental test methods, removal of very low boiling point solvents and degassing of aqueous ammonia or hydrochloric acid solutions.
In addition to accommodating many more sample formats (round-bottom flasks, tubes, vials, custom reaction blocks and shallow or deep-well microplates), the EZ-2 can operate entirely unattended.
The EZ-2 is fitted with an enhanced version of Genevac's Speedtrap.
This chemically resistant cold trap is designed to condense solvents, in order to protect the environment, and help to speed evaporation.
The Speedtrap runs at -50C to enable it to catch the most volatile solvents.
However, it does not freeze the condensed solvent, even when working with water.
Solvents collect in the insulated, plastic-coated glass vessel, enabling the user to check the progress of evaporation and determine when the trap should be emptied.
The glass vessel is removed by a quarter turn, allowing the solvent to be poured directly into the waste container.
Replace the vessel with a quarter turn, and the EZ-2 is ready to run again.
Requiring no peripherals for operation the EZ-2 fits neatly onto a laboratory bench or into a fume hood.
All key components on the robust and reliable system are user serviceable.
