Metrohm UK is running a service in which its specialists carry out a free check on all laboratory electrodes.
The specialist will recommend the best storage conditions, correct electrode maintenance and correct electrode type for each application.
This is not a training course or a sales demonstration but an opportunity for customers to optimise pH measurement and titrations by ensuring they have a correct and fully working electrode for the application.
The customer will then be issued with a discount card for ordering new electrodes and consumables.
Any investment in a titrator is negated if an inferior electrode is used.
The result from the titration or pH measurement is only as good as the electrode used.
The recommendation may be to use an electrode with a fixed ground joint for electrolyte outflow.
The fixed ground joint is largely insensitive to contaminants and requires only minimal maintenance.
The joint's diaphragm is suitable for a range of samples, from clear, ion-deficient solutions up to highly concentrated suspensions or emulsions.
The fixed ground-joint diaphragm allows low-noise potential measurements that are only dependent on the ionic strength and stirring speed to a minimal extent, thus meeting crucial requirements for a rapid and precise titration.
