Lab M will exhibit sakazakii microbiological media for the culture and isolation of Cronobacter sakazakii at Medica 2009, to take place from 18-21 November in Dusseldorf, Germany.
The company's expanding Harlequin-brand chromogenic media, which includes two of the three C sakazakii products, will also be on display.
There will also be news of selected products launching in 2010.
A foodborne pathogen, C sakazakii is associated with sporadic cases and outbreaks of meningitis, necrotising enterocolitis and sepsis, especially in newborns.
The three key media for its isolation and identification are all available from Lab M and meet the need for simplified methods of testing.
These are: Harlequin CSIM - Cronobacter sakazakii Isolation Medium (ISO); CSEB - Cronobacter sakazakii Enrichment Broth (ISO); and Harlequin CSA-DFI - Cronobacter sakazakii Agar - DFI Formulation.
Harlequin CSA-DFI - Cronobacter sakazakii Agar - DFI Formulation was developed to improve the isolation and identification of a variety of micro-organisms.
Harlequin media can help reduce the need for subculture and confirmatory biochemical tests.
The range also includes media for Listeria monocytogenes isolation, the enumeration of coliforms, and E coli O157:H7 and salmonella-species isolation.
