At Labautomation 2010, Hudson Robotics introduced the Solo Plus combination pipettor and dispenser, which automates plate preparation without manual intervention or plate movement.
'The Solo Plus packs the power of more expensive liquid-handling systems in a small-footprint bench-top version at a much lower cost,' said Alan H Katz, chief scientific officer at Hudson Robotics.
The Solo Plus combines Hudson's Solo single-channel pipettor and the company's Micro10x high-speed eight-channel dispenser to create an automated, multi-position system that can simultaneously pipette unique compounds or concentrations into individual wells while dispensing reagents, buffer and other solutions across all wells.
Options include an extended arm to support additional microplate nest positions, including shaking, heating and cooling to support most assay protocols.
Solo Plus is controlled by Hudson's Softlinx scheduling and Solosoft advanced pipetting software.
