Axiom Analytical has announced its fibre-optic coupled FDR-805 Diffuse Reflectance Probe.
Operating in the near-infrared (near-IR) and visible spectral regions, the probe has been designed to yield optimum performance for the analysis of powders, slurries and other diffusely reflecting materials.
Its proprietary optical design provides a combination of high-sensitivity, low-stray light and large depth of field, and is suitable for use at substantial distances from the material being analysed.
Its variable offset feature allows the optimum sample distances to be set anywhere between 30 and 100mm.
The probe's integral bifurcated 80 fibre-optic bundle is said to provide an ideal combination of sensitivity and economy.
The company anticipates that the FDR-805 will find application in fields such as chemical and pharmaceutical development, as well in process-analytical technology (PAT) modelling and scale-up.
Methods developed using the FDR-805 can be applied online in full-scale process analysis in batch reaction vessels, using the company's large-scale diffuse-reflectance probes such as its model FDR-1800.
