Metrohm has launched the Metrosep C4, a cation column that is said to offer improved cation separation characteristics.
The Metrosep C4 column has an improved peak shape, which leads to a better separation of the individual peaks.
Direct comparison has revealed that using the Metrosep C4, the number of theoretical plates per metre is higher than that obtained on the Metrosep C2 and Cation 1-2 columns.
Additionally, for standard cations, transition metals and amines, the Metrosep C4 column shows better results with regard to peak shape, peak height, resolution, and asymmetry factor.
For monovalent cations, the C4 column achieves a high number of theoretical plates per metre, yielding good detection limit and an improved separation of sodium and ammonium.
