The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) is due to launch its new Measurement Network on 20 May, giving businesses and universities across the UK access to the latest measurement science.
Businesses and universities can sign up to access up-to-date measurement knowledge and research to enhance their work and to help new ideas flourish.
The Measurement Network will comprise 19 existing NPL knowledge transfer clubs and networks in a central hub, making it easier for a range of stakeholders to engage with the NPL and for new groups to develop as technologies change, according to the company.
By uniting existing groups under a single banner, the NPL will be able to provide a more efficient and co-ordinated service for stakeholders, including industrial partners, small and medium-sized enterprises, universities and manufacturers.
The network will provide targeted events and information for members.
This will disseminate the latest research and knowledge from the NPL in the sectors that are most relevant to each member.
Key markets and user communities will be invited to collaborate with the company to provide measurement input into other forums, such as the knowledge transfer networks, building links to maximise reach and impact.
Measurement Network members will also have the opportunity to influence the research that the NPL undertakes by setting the direction the network should take.
This will ensure that some of the work the NPL undertakes is driven by the needs of the community and seeks to address the measurement challenges facing industry.
