Thermo Fisher has announced new phases to its flagship range of Hypersil Gold high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) columns.
The five new phases, making a total of 11, mean the Hypersil Goldo range is now one of the most comprehensive ranges available, according to the company.
In addition to a C4 phase, which broadens the scope of selectivities for reversed phase LC, the columns also include options for the analysis of polar compounds by ion exchange, HILIC and normal phase chromatography.
All phases use the same backbone of pure silica to deliver symmetrical peak shapes, regardless of the compound or mode of analysis.
The company the will showcase the Hypersil Gold columns in Thermo Scientific hospitality suite at the Salt Palace Convention Center Salons 50BCEF during ASMS 2010.
Hypersil Gold C4 is a low hydrophobicity column with short alkyl chain length.
This has the effect of shortening retention, making the column suitable for reversed phase separations of analytes such as proteins and peptides.
Hypersil Gold Amino columns are suited to the analysis of sugars and carbohydrates, demonstrating properties in weak anion exchange, reversed and normal phases.
Hypersil Gold Ax is suitable for the separation of proteins, peptides, other anionic species and polar molecules, and can be used as an anion exchange column and for HILIC separations.
As a highly stable quaternary amine strong anion exchange column, designed for aqueous mobile phase, the Hypersil Gold Sax is suited for use with smaller organic molecules, including nucleotides and organic acids.
The final addition to this portfolio, Hypersil Gold Silica, is a powerful and efficient tool for the analysis of non-polar and moderately polar organic compounds using normal-phase LC.
With all 11 phases available with 1.9um particle size, the expanded range of Hypersil Gold columns provides chromatographers with even greater flexibility to choose the most appropriate column for their application, whether using conventional or ultra-high-pressure LC systems.
